Target investigator, Deepthi Alapati, M.D. (Neonatologist) receives outstanding score for NIH grant.

Deepthi Alapati, M.D. submitted a grant entitled “Role of alveolar epithelial cell derived cellular communication network factor 2 in alveologenesis and neonatal lung injury” to the NIH K08 grant program. K08 grants are Mentored Clinical Scientist Research Career Development Awards that enable clinicians to focus on their research program. Deepthi’s application scored 22, which is well within the funding line for these grants.  This 5 year, $810,000 grant is currently under administrative review, with an award anticipated in the next few months.
