Bio: Dr. Barwe received her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from The Indian Institute of Science in 2000. From 2000 to 2007, she worked as a Postdoc Researcher at the University of California, Los Angeles conducting research on the role of Na,K-ATPase as a cell adhesion molecule. In 2007, she became an Assistant Research Scientist at the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, where she began developing leukemia xenograft mouse models using samples from patients treated at Nemours. Dr. Barwe currently heads the Preclinical Leukemia Testing Laboratory within the Nemours Center for Childhood Cancer Research. Dr. Barwe's primary research interests are to study the role of calcium binding proteins in childhood leukemia, and understanding the molecular mechanisms of drug resistance and relapse with a goal of identifying novel therapeutic targets or drug combinations.
